Service Bridges is Hiring a Staff Interpreter in Western New York! 

Join our stellar staff interpreter team serving the Deaf community throughout the 8 Western New York counties as an American Sign Language (ASL) Staff Interpreter.

Service Bridges currently has an opening for an ASL-English Staff Interpreter.  Are you the perfect candidate? We are searching for someone to join our team who shares our mission and vision of service to the Deaf community, led by a Deaf CEO, who will uphold a commitment to the clients and customers utilizing our services. 

The successful candidate is guaranteed a base of 1,040 hours annually, based on 2-hour minimum.  Additional opportunities to earn more are also available.  Compensation is competitive and offers access to health benefits which includes medical, vision and dental insurance plans as well as paid vacation.  

Reports to
The ASL Staff Interpreter will report to the Director of Interpreter Services. 

Responsibilities and Duties

• Facilitate full communication access to Deaf and hearing service users of Service Bridges.  
• Always arrive on time, properly attired for the request.
• Engage office staff for support.
• Complete any necessary documentation efficiently and on time.
• Report time within 24 hours of assignment completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required, in ASL-English Interpretation preferred.
• Comfortable being flexible in a variety of situations and willing to participate in on-call schedule with our team members.
• Strong expressive and receptive skills in both languages. 
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of the sociolinguistic dynamics of the Deaf community.
• Willingness to exceed the expectations of the R.I.D. Code of Professional Conduct. 
• R.I.D. Certified preferred, but not required.
• Prompt ethical decision-making skills.
